Happy Election Day! It's a perfect fall day in Kansas - colorful leaves, sun shining and a comfortable 70 degrees outside. Add the buzz of election day and the red/white/blue treats we brought to work to celebrate and I'm feeling quite patriotic. For the record, Drew & I fulfilled our duty and privilege as American citizens and rocked the vote. Drew voted in advance, since he is in NM this week, while I voted this morning. Only a 30 minute line at our polling location at 7:45 this morning.
Neither Drew or I are particularly into politics. We both have opinions (rather strong ones, in fact) but tend to keep them to ourselves and don't really participate in the banter. I guess you could say we speak with our votes instead. But it sure felt good to stand in line at the polls, with my unborn son, and turn in a ballot. Perhaps it's the patriotism in the air today, perhaps it's the importance of the issues that our country is currently facing, perhaps it's the sense of urgency that being just a few weeks away from parenthood has brought to light, or perhaps a combination of all of those things. Whatever the case, I hope it was the start of a new tradition for me and my little man...rockin' the vote!
