Date Night

Friday, Drew & I had our first date night since Jackson's arrival. Drew's parents (Gram & Grump) offered to come to Lawrence for the evening. They wanted a little Jack time and it gave us a little break for some grown up time. We were looking forward to the evening all day and as I told Drew when we left the house, it felt nice to get dressed up and put on makeup for a change. I felt like a woman instead of a milk machine in sweat pants!

In the end, we decided to run to Kansas City. We had a few things to do at Babies R Us and then had dinner at one of Drew's favorites, Imo's Pizza. I know, I know...a baby store and a pizza joint, not exactly dripping in romance. But it was actually a lovely evening. It was nice to be able to get in and out of the car without hauling a car seat and all the baby paraphernalia. It was nice to have both hands free for a couple of hours. It was nice to not have to schedule every move around the next feeding. It was nice to feel like a couple.

And while we enjoyed our date night, we sure missed our little guy! He was in great hands and we weren't at all worried about him, but not having him with us felt a bit, I don't know, incomplete. We snuggled a little extra when we got home.

Thanks to Gram & Grump for driving all the way to Lawrence for the evening. Let us know next time you need a little Jack fix...I'm sure we can come up with some more errands to run. Or maybe we'll actually go for the romance next time!
