I'm a worker. I love my career. I thrive on being busy. I travel. My house is in perfect order. I still hand-write letters and thank you notes. When I have lazy days at home, I'm bored by noon. It's just who I am. And then I became a mom.
So back to my oh-so productive day. Here's what I've done:
- Folded and put away 1 load of baby laundry
- Made the bed
- Brushed my teeth, threw on sweats and clipped up my hair (no shower today...baby didn't nap this morning)
- Read 4 Eric Carle books to Jack
- Made lunch for hubby and I - sort of cleaned up lunch (meaning I threw away the paper plates, the pan from the fried egg sandwiches is still on the stove)
- Actually remembered to set out some beef for dinner tonight (what I'll actually do with the beef is yet to be determined...probably order pizza)
- Spent an hour checking in with the office and doing a little work while Jack napped
- Made the car payment online
- Of course, there were several feedings interspersed as well as some rocking and cuddle time
That brings me to now.
A month ago I never would have believed the list above could be considered a productive day. And to further illustrate this metamorphosis I've made - I have to cut this post short and run. I just glanced at the clock and realized that I'm missing The Ellen Show. (Gasp!!)

Heidi,
Isn't motherhood great. And to think you use to wonder what a stay at home mom would have had to do all day.
Love ya lot
Mom
This made me laugh. I still struggle this. If I have a grumpy day, it is usually because I began the day with high expectations for accomplishing things and ended up getting very little done. Anymore just cleaning up the aftermath of Hurricane Linus is an all day endeavor.
I'm glad to know that you are taking a little time for yourself (watching Ellen) because the need to get things done often overpowers the desire to rest, but we all need to rest sometime.
