It goes faster than you think.
One. My baby boy is about to be one year old.
How did that happen?
Saturday, Jackson had his one year photo shoot. While looking at the photo proofs this morning I saw something for the first time. I saw a toddler. In my mind's eye, he is still just a baby. But there he was, on the computer screen, looking like a little boy.
It feels like just yesterday that I was anxiously awaiting his arrival. Yet here we are a whole year later. He's come so far. Through NICU, jaundice, breastfeeding, sleep deprivation, daycare, teething, baby food, crawling, babbling, solid foods and walking. We survived it all.
Even though he is now a toddling little boy, there is still a moment, right before bed, when he snuggles into me with his head on my chest just like he did when he was a 5 lb. 13 oz. newborn. And I get a glimpse of my baby.
As long as I don't blink.
