Pee Pew

Jackson learned to say "pee yew" (or in toddler speak, "pee pew") ages ago.  We say it when we change his diaper.  We say it when we take his shoes off.  He thinks it's hilarious.  (And Drew & I do, too!)

One morning this week I went to his room to get him out of bed and he greeted me, rather enthusiastically, with "Ma!  Pee Pew!"

He was right.  There was quite a stinker waiting in his diaper.

Something similar occurred last night while the boys were home alone.  They had just finished eating and Jack walked behind his highchair - which, oddly enough, has become a pretty standard hiding place for him to do his business.  It went like this:

Jack:  Pee Pew!
Drew:  Jackson, are you making a pee yew in your pants?
Jack:  Uh Uh *shaking head no*
Drew:  Jackson, should we go find the potty?
Jack:  Uh Uh *shaking head no*

These 2 incidents got me thinking.

1.  To date, Jackson's vocabulary consists only of one-word conversations.  "Bye-bye."  "All done."  "Ball."  "Ruby."  And so on.  I'm pretty sure his first attempt at putting words together ("Ma!  Pee Pew!") was in regards to pooping his pants.  Awesome.

2.    Twice, in one week, he has declared "pee pew" while in the act of or immediately following filling his pants.  Drew thinks that means we need to buy a potty chair.  Jack's obviously becoming more aware of this bodily function.  Not that I think he will tell us when he needs to go.  Or that he is anywhere near ready to potty train.  But I suppose having one around and at least starting those conversations can't hurt.  I on the other hand am totally unprepared for potty training.  Unprepared mentally as I haven't even begun to read up on potty training techniques.  But most of all, unprepared that my baby boy could possibly be even close to needing a potty chair.

I think that stinks.

Pee Pew!
