It was a rainy weekend in Lawrence, Kansas. When you live with two sun worshipers like I do, being stuck indoors all weekend is a scary proposition. With golf and trips to the park off the table, we had to turn to an old standby and a little creativity to keep us occupied indoors instead.
First up, Mega Blocks.
Turns out with a little teamwork
A good planAnd some help from Daddy
Mega Blocks can be a lot of fun!
Aunt Abby gets credit for the next activity. She's the queen of fun, totally do-able and educational activities for kids (what with her elementary education degree and all). She recently shared some ideas for age-appropriate activities I can do with Jackson (upon my request), one of which was sensory boxes.
I rounded up an old Rubbermaid container, picked up several bags of dried beans from the grocery store and less than $10 later we had a sensory tub.
I tossed in a few Tonka trucks, buried some golf balls and just like that we had hours of fun.
Or 30 minutes.
But in toddler-time, 30 minutes is an eternity!
Jackson loved digging in the beans. He even managed to keep most of them inside the tub. I'm sure we will pull this out many times for future burying, digging and sorting expeditions. Thanks Aunt Abby!
And that is how blocks and beans saved my sanity on a rainy weekend.
