I intended to write this post over a month ago. It's scary how time gets away from me these days. Anyway...
It's been a scorcher of a summer here in Lawrence, so our opportunities for outdoor playtime have been limited. Jackson has zero interest in the television (which I prefer actually, but I'll admit to wishing he would be more interested in Special Agent Oso, Handy Manny or The Micky Mouse Clubhouse on more than one early Saturday morning). He prefers running to walking. He enjoys puzzles, but only for 2.5 minutes. The kid needs activity. Constantly. So a few Saturday's ago while Jack was napping I cooked up some fun.
Added a little food coloring.
And voila...homemade (and therefore safe for toddlers who still tend to taste everything they come in contact with) playdough!
It has been a source of fun countless times in the month that has passed since whipping up a batch.
Oh yeah!
Remember this picture?
I promised a future post about what was in the bag. Well here it is...
Playdough accessories! I highly recommend them (and most toys made by Melissa & Doug for that matter). Jackson is a fan as well.
If you're interested, here's the recipe I used (thanks to a quick Google search). You too can cook up some fun!
Homemade Playdough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tarter
2 cups of water
1 tablespoons vegetable oil
food coloring
Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until stiff. Allow to cool, then knead.
