Outsmarted

Despite my greatest efforts I have not been able to get Jackson to eat berries.  Not blueberries, blackberries, raspberries or strawberries.  I've tried everything from bribery to dipping them in whipped cream.  Even our visit to the u-pick strawberry patch didn't change his opinion.

We had some friends over for an impromptu BBQ this weekend.  While contemplating side dishes, I came up with an idea that I was sure was brilliant.  Fruit pizza!  Granted, the sugar cookie "pizza crust" and cream cheese "pizza sauce" aren't exactly the picture of nutrition.  But pizza is Jackson's favorite thing to eat.  If something that was called pizza and looked somewhat like pizza could trick him into eating berries, it was worth a try.  So I whipped one up.

Our friends were in on my plan, so at dinner that night everyone made a big deal about how good the "pizza" was.  When Jack reached for his slice, we all watched closely.

He then proceeded to pick off every single blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, kiwi and pineapple leaving a cream cheese slathered sugar cookie.  He took a huge bite, looked right at me and declared, "Mmmm...that's delicious!"

Clearly I underestimated my son.

Outsmarted.  By a two-year old.

Holy shit, that's hilarious! Great story. It's funny how smart and cunning kids can be. Like when Bella found a "Cars" car at the auto parts store, and then cocked her head, batted her eyes, and said "please daddy can i have it?" Well, OF COURSE CUTIE!!!
