Back to Reality

Isn't there a proverb that "all good things must come to an end"?  It seems a little pessimistic to me, but this week it's true.

Our vacation is over.

We had an entire week off, which was actually 10 days when you added in weekends and the 4th of July, and it was glorious.

After a quick stop in Junction City to celebrate a milestone birthday with Drew's grandmother, we headed west to Castle Rock, CO to spend a week with my parents.  We slept in nearly every morning, stayed up late nearly every night, ate a lot, played golf, visited the zoo and aquarium, enjoyed 2 date nights (Including quite possibly the best meal we've ever eaten at Del Frisco's while Aunt Nikki babysat.  Then later in the week a Rockies v Royals baseball game at Coors Field followed by an overnight stay in downtown Denver while Nana babysat.), shopped (and bought), saw family we haven't seen in ages as we celebrated a similar milestone birthday for my grandmother and just plain enjoyed the break.

Unfortunately, things returned to normal all too quickly.  Yesterday was spent unpacking our bags, washing clothes and buying groceries.  Drew's mood made it clear that returning to the piles of work waiting on his desk was not a task he was looking forward to.  Dragging Jackson out of bed this morning gave me glimpses of what lies ahead in his teenage years.  His tears as I dropped him off at school were further proof that things are right back where we left them.

Back to reality.

Stay tuned for pictures of our adventures in Colorado.  Our desktop computer took it's final bow a couple of weeks ago and I've got to add a bigger hard drive to our laptop in order for it to accommodate all of my photos and files.  I'm on the case...hopefully it will just be a couple of days.
