A funny story about my BFF.
It started with an e-mail from Cortney a few weeks ago. She mentioned a new brownie recipe she had come across called Knock You Naked Brownies. This recipe is meant to be a DIY version of the famous Killer Brownie sold at Dorothy Lane Market (and shipped all over the country via their mail order business) in Dayton, OH. She was suggesting we give them a try.
Fast forward 3 weeks to the eve of Cortney's arrival in Lawrence for a visit. I remembered her e-mail and decided to surprise her with a batch of Knock You Naked Brownies. Jackson & I made a special trip the store for the ingredients and planned to whip them up after dinner that night.
Upon pulling into the driveway, having just purchasing the ingredients for the brownies, I noticed a package at the front door. Odd, since I was not expecting anything. Imagine my surprise when a closer look revealed a box from Dorothy Lane Market and a note from Cortney that read, "Oh yes I did"!
I was literally walking into the house with the ingredients to make the exact same brownies and she had beat me to the punch by ordering the originals.
This kind of thing happens to Cort & I all the time. And that is why (amongst a million other reasons) we are BFFs!
For the curious: I went ahead and made the knock off version (so we could compare the two, of course) and we've since sampled both. The original Killer Brownies really are killer. They're delicious for sure, but there is so much sugar and chocolate and caramel and sweetness packed into those brownies they really might kill you. The Knock You Naked version is almost identical. In fact, both Cortney & I gave it a slight edge.
