Summer in the City

Last weekend the Lawrence Public Library kicked off their Summer in the City reading program with a Lawn Games & Moustaches party.  My friend (and fellow bookworm) Laura joined Jackson & I for what turned out to be an absolutely fabulous time!

There were crafts, activities, games and snacks all the way around the library grounds.  Jackson got a library tattoo, made moustaches, decorated buttons, hoola-hooped, played with sidewalk chalk, ate pie (who knew Dillon's had such an out of this world coconut pie...yum!), played miniature golf and croquet and even got his face painted for the very first time.

Naturally, the line for face painting was very long and it was quite hot outside so I tried to convince Jack that it wasn't necessary, but he insisted.  Kudos to the little bugger though, because he stood in that line and behaved himself for a solid 20 minutes.  When it was finally his turn he wanted to look like spider man.  I have no idea where this came from.  We don't own a single spider man item and have never watched a single spider man episode, but he was adament.  Unfortunately, they were out of red paint.  Laura came to the rescue and suggested he just go with the black web instead (good call Laura) and he was thrilled!

Thanks to the Lawrence Public Library for an awesome event and a perfect kick off to Summer in the City.  And thanks to my dear friend Laura for being our side-kick for the day!

I had so much fun too! I didn't realize you took so many great photos. Mom and I both love the one with all three of us in the mirror. That turned out to be a neat photo.
