But boring means routine. Boring means normal pregnancy and healthy baby. Boring is good! Here's the run-down:
- For the 3rd time in a row my blood pressure started out high but after waiting a few minutes was back to normal. Could be anxiety, could be an elevated heart rate from walking to the exam room and climbing on the table. Whatever the cause, the fact that it always returns to normal is good and my doctor isn't at all concerned.
- She reiterated that after last month's blood tests my glucose numbers were great - which was excellent news. The hemoglobin levels had me at borderline anemic, hence the iron supplements, but she said this is a fairly common occurrence and she's confident the levels will work themselves out as we progress.
- She said my belly is looking and measuring great. Still no stretch marks; although, my belly button is taking on alien-like shapes. (Which might have to be the topic of it's own post. My husband has been getting quite a kick out of my evolving belly button of late.)
- We talked about my swelling. I've noticed it mostly in my feet but also my hands and have even stopped wearing my rings most of the time. Again, she said this was very normal for this stage of pregnancy and since my blood pressure is okay it is nothing to worry about.
- As always, the best part was hearing his heartbeat. It was just fluttering away and her response was "baby sounds just perfect".
- I go back in 2 weeks. All the ladies in the office were joking that I was lucky to squeeze in another weigh-in before Thanksgiving. Boy are they right! I certainly don't need any help in the extra pounds department.
- At my next appointment we will schedule an ultrasound. We can't tell if he is facing head down yet, but since he's still small enough to flip around it's a little early to worry about that. Dr. Estrin "doesn't like surprises", so that is going to be her excuse to get us in for another peek in December. Sounds like a good enough reason to me.
So that was my boring appointment. And hopefully the next 8 weeks will be equally as boring!
