Working Mom, Continued

Tired. Sooo tired.

Jackson reverted back to waking every 3 hours on the nose last night. I was up at 10:30, 1:30 and 4:30 and am bringing back the bags under the eyes look today. Not my best look.

But aside from the sleep deprivation, things really are going well. We had such a fun evening with Jackson. During my leave, the evenings were my least favorite part of the day. It tends to be his fussy time and after being home alone all day I was pretty desperate for help and adult conversation come 5:00. Not so when you're working.

I came home to a smiling baby (thanks Nana!) and we cuddled and played and loved on each other for a good hour. Drew made dinner so I could spend that time with Jack. Then the boys did bottle time together while I did dishes, prepared my bags and Jack's bottles for the next day and even sorted laundry. Then Jack and I cuddled some more before he went to sleep at 9:00. Super fun evening and a routine I can really get used to. As a working mom, it feels like you miss so much of your baby's day. Which you do. However, I will say that the time you do have together becomes much more "quality" time. You treasure every minute and are completely engaged during your time together.

We are still working through the whole morning routine. I'm sure there will be days that are just a struggle. There are so many variables...Jack's mood, how much sleep we got, how well/quickly he eats, etc. But even so, it is clear to me that we are doing the right thing for us.

That said, I reserve the right to take all of this back come Thursday when he is at daycare instead of home with Nana. I wonder if we could convince her to move in?
