I had such a lovely day with my boys. I was treated to 3 beautiful cards in the morning (from Jackson, Drew and even Ruby who got in on the action). We went out for breakfast as a family and then spent the rest of the morning working in the yard. We added some annuals to the front landscaping, planted tomatoes and finished my pots of herbs and flowers. The rest of the afternoon was fairly lazy. Drew & Jackson napped and watched golf while I learned how to use my Mother's Day gift - a Blackberry Storm. I love it! It's going to come in so handy for this busy working mom. For dinner, Drew brought home take-out from our favorite Lawrence restaurant, Paisano's. I couldn't have asked for a better day. We took lots of pictures that you can check out here.
Of course, I couldn't help but think about how blessed I feel to finally be a mommy. For me, it was a long road. But worth every step of the journey. I get it now. The unconditional love that you feel for your child - instantly. The fact that someone else's needs and wants are so much more important than your own. That there is nothing on earth you wouldn't do for your baby. It makes me appreciate my own Mom even more - something I would not have thought possible a mere 5 months ago.
There is no doubt about it, being a mom is the hardest job in the world. But it also brings more joy than I ever could have imagined.
To Drew & Jackson - thank you for making my first Mother's Day so wonderful. I love you.
To my Mom, Nanas, Aunts, Cousins, Mom-in-law, Sis-in-law, and Friends - cheers to all of the fabulous mothers in my life. I'm so happy to be part of your club!
