Let the Countdown Begin

It's here!

And that means our first advent calendar/countdown to Christmas has officially begun.  A tradition that, one day into it, I already love and hope to continue for many years.

I told you about my advent calendar plans already (thanks for the ideas, by the way) and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

Some tiny craft store envelopes, self-printed number stickers, red and white bakers twine and miniature clothes pins...and voila!

An advent calendar.

The envelopes contain a piece of paper describing some sort of treat, activity or event for the 24 days leading to Christmas.  Of course, I also printed my plans on a calendar so I can look ahead for planning and/or last minute adjustment purposes.  Because I'm anal like that.

Here's a series of pics as the little guy (in his coveted new cowboy hat from Uncle Matt that he hasn't taken off since he got it) opens the first envelope.
