My heart was right. And the images I saw on the sonogram this time were even more amazing than I imagined! He/she really looks like a baby now and was literally bouncing around! At one point I saw him/her kick her legs out. I don't think the ultrasound technician noticed the tear that snuck down my cheek. The heartbeat was normal, size measured just right for 11 weeks and my cervix is totally closed. All good news. The placenta is sitting a little low in the uterus right now, which isn't a huge cause for concern - especially this early, but something they are going to keep an eye on at the 20 week scan. Otherwise everything was perfect. Once again, the bleeding was just "one of those things".
Stastically, I'm now at a 2% chance of miscarriage per the doctor. And to be honest, I'm not sure if it ever gets any lower than that. Not bad odds...maybe I'll finally relax one of these days! I'm holding out for 1 more week - for some reason 12 weeks along feels like the right time - and then I'm going public with my extended family and my colleagues at work.
The pictures didn't scan so well this time, but here's a peek at our little guy/girl today. The top photo is all baby. The bottom photo had the tech cracking up. This was when he/she kicked and the pointy looking thing on the bottom left (I know...sort of impossible to see on this scanned version) is a baby butt! I will resist the urge to add a sound byte from Sir Mix a Lot's "Baby Got Back" but feel free to sing along in your head.

I'm sorry you had to stress about that today, but I'm glad you got to get another sonogram and I'm glad everything is okay. Yay for baby butt and kicking baby!
Heidi,
I have to tell you that as I write I have tears of joy for you both...knowing that all is well. How happy you must have been to see the baby moving and hear the heart beat!
love you, Deb
I'm so glad they got you in for an ultrasound. Without that reassurance you wouldn't have been able to focus on anything else (at least I wouldn't have). I'm so glad you're almost to 12 weeks but I can't guarantee you'll stress any less. :)
