Traveling Woes

It's hard to believe one can be so exhausted from a day of doing absolutely nothing.

I left the house at noon today for my 2:20 flight to Boston. Weather in the NE delayed my flight and I ended up leaving KC at 5:00. That made 4 glorious hours of KCI time. After a 3 1/2 hour flight (including 30 minutes of circle time...that darn weather again) I finally touched the ground at 9:30 Boston time. I rounded up my bags, grabbed the rental car and I owe a huge amount of props to the in-car GPS system that helped get me here safe and sound despite the dark, the rain and the insane Boston drivers.

The biggest bummer of all...Cortney's flight was completely cancelled. She'll now arrive tomorrow morning at 8:30 so it's not a total loss, but neither of us got off on the right foot for our much anticipated girls weekend!

Thankfully, there were some positives of the day. All that airport time meant lots of extra study time for Heidi. I even read (word for word) 55 of the 150 pages in the Convention Industry Council's APEX (Accepted Practices Exchange) Glossary. It's equivalent to reading a dictionary (only all event related terms, of course). Riveting stuff. But it's all fair game on the exam so reading through it can't hurt. Our hotel is very nice and from the looks of the area (in the dark and in the rain) it's a great spot. Oh so close to the mall...I'm sensing a coach purse in Cort & my future. And finally, the highlight of my day. This gorgeous display from edible arrangements waiting for me upon my arrival. Only my best friend (who's day was also plagued with travel woes) would come up with something so sweet. She was concerned that baby & I would be hungry and in need of some real nutrition after a long day of airports, flight delays and bad food. She was right! And as much as I hated destroying the beautiful edible arrangement, I've managed to devour at least half of it already!

So tomorrow the real fun begins. Look out Boston...it's girls weekend!

Oh, that's so sweet. What a great friend. Have a fabulous time and definitely make a Coach purchase.
