Apparently we've been watching too much Disney Channel in our house.
While unintentional, both of this year's carved pumpkins came straight out of the Disney morning cartoon lineup.
Currently, Jackson is obsessed with Mickey Mouse, so we knew right away one of our pumpkins would feature the mouse ears.
Niether Drew or I are artistic. At all. But for some bizarre reason I can draw a mean Mickey Mouse. And Drew has some mad pumpkin carving skills. So we were confident we could pull it off.
It was a family effort.
Jack got started cleaning out the pumpkin.
Then I sketched Mickey on some painters tape.
Drew did the carving.
And just like that, we had a Mickey Mouse pumpkin!
Not too shabby, huh!
Of course, Jackson wasn't satisfied until he could pose with his pumpkin in full costume.
Several days later inspiration struck Drew and he decided to carve a pirate in a 2nd pumpkin, in honor of our little pirate and his other favorite Disney cartoon, Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
I was in the house doing dishes while the boys tackled this one so there aren't many photos, but here is the finished product (don't mind Mickey, unfortunatley we carved him a little early so he was already rotting).
Thanks for the inspiratioin, Disney!

This year's inside decorations are courtesy of Gram. She made this awesome bunting for Jackson that I just love!
She also brought the milk jug jack-o-lanterns that are really fun and festive, too. Especially with such a cute little pirate in the picture!
Happy Halloween, Mateys!
